Mesilas Yesharim

 

The Mesillas Yesharim, written almost 300 years ago has been appreciated as a monumental work by all Jewish communities. Chassidim, Baalei Mussar, Sefardim, Ashkanazim; all have embraced the Mesillas Yesharim as the basic text on how to become a true oved Hashem.

Reb Yitzchok Izzak Sher, the Slobodka Rosh Yeshiva said that what the Rambam did for halacha with the Mishna Torah, the Ramchal did for Avodas Hashem. Rather than simply approaching the subject piecemeal, he organized avodas Hashem into a total system that could be attained level by level; culminating in the highest spiritual realms.

Rabbi Orlofsky’s Mesillas Yesharim shiur, an ongoing project of the Moshe Yehudah Institute, attempts to explain the words of the Ramchal in a way that the average Jew today can relate to and acquire the wisdom of the Mesillas Yesharim.
